The golden bird sang aloud,
Till until at last,
When she could sing no more,
She looked through the cage’s screen.
She nearly cried when she saw,
Her own breed flying free,
She longed to break through and join them,
But try as she might- she couldn’t.
But when one day she found,
The cage’s door carelessly left unlocked,
She gave a little push,
And she broke free!
Oh what joy! She couldn’t breathe enough,
The fresh air and the sights,
The sun warmed her wing,
And she flew- never to return . . .
